Golf at Punta Espada · Billfish Tournaments · IRONMAN 70.3 · Food & Wine Weekends
Cap Cana's calendar is built around a few recurring events: golf tournaments at Punta Espada in October and November, catch-and-release billfish tournaments at Marina Cap Cana in the spring and fall, IRONMAN 70.3 Cap Cana in May, and a food and wine weekend at The St. Regis Cap Cana. The dates change from year to year, so this page gives the usual season for each event and the dates of the most recent edition we could confirm.
Villa Espada sits on Fairway 5 of Punta Espada, three minutes by golf cart from the clubhouse, so the golf tournaments are played on the course outside the villa. The marina and St. Regis events are also inside the Cap Cana gates; the Corales Puntacana Championship is about 15 minutes away by car.
Updated November 2026. Dates come from organizer and Cap Cana announcements; confirm with the organizer before you book travel around an event.

The Cap Cana Golf Cup is Cap Cana's own annual tournament at Punta Espada. The 2026 edition was played October 23–24 as part of the course's 20th-anniversary celebration, and Cap Cana reported that Gary, Steve and GT Nicklaus (Jack Nicklaus's sons and grandson) were in the field. The tournament supports Fundación Forjando un Futuro, which supports educational projects for children and young people in communities near Cap Cana.
The Copa Corrie is a team match between 12 golfers from the Distrito Nacional, the capital, and 12 from the rest of the country. It honors Jack Corrie, the founder of the Dominican Golf Association, and has been played at Punta Espada since it was relaunched in 2024. The 2026 edition ran November 6–8.
The PGA TOUR's Corales Puntacana Championship is played at Corales Golf Club at Puntacana Resort, about 15 minutes from Villa Espada by car. The 2026 event was played in July; the tournament's date has moved in past years.
Tee times at Punta Espada can be limited on tournament days. Villa Espada renters book Punta Espada tee times through the villa at the member-guest discounted rate, a flat $395 per golfer, per round, plus a $20 caddie fee paid directly, so check your travel dates against the tournament schedule when you book. If your group needs another course that day, Corales and La Cana are about 15 minutes away by car, and Las Iguanas' back nine is open now, including its oceanside holes, and villa guests can book it at regular rates. Marina Cap Cana is the base for two international catch-and-release billfish tournaments. The Cap Cana White Marlin Tournament runs in the spring, and the Cap Cana Classic International Billfish Tournament runs in the fall. Blue marlin is the main target in the Classic, with white marlin and sailfish also counting toward the score.
The Classic's dates move: it was held October 10–11 in 2025 and is scheduled for November 12–14 in 2026. During tournament weeks the marina fills with boats and crews.
If your group wants to fish rather than compete, private charters leave from the same docks. See the Cap Cana Marina charter directory and our Cap Cana Marina guide.
IRONMAN 70.3 Cap Cana is a half-distance triathlon: a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike and a 21.1 km run. The third edition was held on May 17, 2026, with more than 1,000 registered athletes from about 60 countries.
If you are arriving or leaving on race weekend, plan around road closures. In 2026, authorities announced closures on sections of the Autovía del Coral and the Cap Cana access roads for the race. The private airport transfer is included with every Villa Espada stay, so send your flight times with your booking and the transfer can be timed around the closures.
The Art of Savoring is a three-day culinary weekend at The St. Regis Cap Cana with visiting chefs and mixologists, tastings and masterclasses. The second edition runs November 13–15, 2026, with chefs including Diego Muñoz of Nina, the resort's signature restaurant. Check with the resort for tickets.
A recent opening is Mar de Cepas, a Spanish restaurant at the Fishing Lodge that opened in 2026. Our Cap Cana dining guide covers the St. Regis, Eden Roc and marina restaurants. When you eat in, the villa's private chef cooks, with food and groceries billed at cost plus a 15% service charge, with no restaurant markup.
